Hi, I’m Christy.
I started 4RYL after one too many moments standing in a grocery aisle staring at an ingredient label and thinking… how is anyone supposed to figure this out?
Every product claims to be better. Every brand has a story. Somewhere along the way, shopping stopped feeling simple and started feeling like homework.
I’m a mom with a 'busy family', a business owner, and exactly the kind of consumer most brands say they’re building their products for. I care about what’s actually in the products I buy, how they’re made, and the kind of companies making them. Not just the ingredients, but the integrity behind them.
But somewhere along the way, shopping got exhausting.
Every product claims to be clean. Every label promises to be better. Add influencer marketing, AI-written copy, and shelves packed with options, and suddenly buying something simple starts to feel like a research project.
I tried to keep up.
I read labels. I researched brands. I tried to understand certifications and ingredient lists and the long list of things I was supposed to avoid. I genuinely wanted to make better choices for my family.
But at some point, I just hit a wall.
If you’ve ever tried grocery shopping with kids, you know the feeling. One child asking for snacks, another trying to sneak something into the cart, someone asking when you’re leaving, and you’re standing there squinting at a tiny ingredient list trying to decide if something is actually healthy or just pretending to be.
Shopping with kids is like trying to push an octopus down the grocery aisle. Arms everywhere, chaos in every direction, and you’re just trying to make it out alive with something resembling dinner.
Most people don’t have the time or energy to investigate every product they bring into their home. I certainly didn’t. And after getting burned a few too many times, I gave up trying so hard.
I went from someone who cared deeply about what I was buying to someone who basically said, “whatever.” I was tired of paying premium prices for everyday products that claimed to be better, only to find out later that the marketing was better than the product. My daughter would scan things with one of those apps and suddenly I’d realize I had been suckered into good marketing again.
So I stopped trying.
Cheap food. Cheap beauty. Cheap everything. If it was all marketing anyway, what was the point?
Then life gave me a bit of a wake-up call.
At 45, I had some bloodwork results that didn't come back so great. Nothing like a moment like that to make you stop and think about what you’re putting in your body and how much of it you’ve been trusting without really knowing.
Around the same time, the business I was running was slowly draining the joy out of my life. I knew something had to change, and quickly.
That moment forced me to step back and ask a bigger question.
If it’s this hard to figure out what’s actually worth buying, something about the system is broken.
That question became the beginning of 4RYL.
4RYL exists to help people cut through marketing noise and find brands actually worth trusting.
Some of the products are things we create ourselves through 4RYL Originals. Some are Collaborations with founders who share our values. And others are Certified brands that meet the standards I care about when it comes to ingredients, transparency, and how companies operate.
But 4RYL isn’t just about selling products.
It’s about building a place where real people can have honest conversations about the brands they support and the choices they make as consumers. Through product reviews, conversations with founders, and the 4RYL Talk podcast, I share the process as it happens. The questions, the discoveries, the wins, and the occasional mistakes.
No marketing smoke and mirrors.
No pretending everything is perfect.
Just real people trying to figure out what’s actually worth buying and supporting.
Because at the end of the day, the brands we support shape the world we live in.
And if we’re going to spend our money on something, it should be for the right reasons.
