Who We Are & Why We Exist

Hi, we’re 4RYL, and honestly, this whole thing started because shopping got way too complicated.

I’m a mom of four, and somewhere along the way I realized I was spending an insane amount of time standing in store aisles reading labels, Googling ingredients, scanning products, researching companies, and trying to figure out what was actually worth buying. Is this ingredient really a problem? Is this company actually as good as they say they are? Why does one app tell me something is great while another tells me absolutely not? And do I really need to spend $38 on laundry detergent to make a better choice?

I found the whole process exhausting, and I knew I couldn’t be the only person doing this.

That’s really where 4RYL came from. I wanted a place where someone had already done some of the digging and where products weren’t recommended just because they were trending, had beautiful packaging, or somebody had an affiliate code. I wanted to know what was actually in the product, who was making it, what kind of company was behind it, and whether it actually worked once you got it home.

Because that part matters just as much as what’s on the label.

We have kids, budgets, sensitive skin, picky eaters, messy houses, packed schedules, and family members who have absolutely no problem telling us when the new toilet paper is terrible. A product can look fantastic on paper and still not make sense in real life, and we think both sides of that equation matter.

That’s what 4RYL is really about: real products, real companies, real transparency, and real life. Not some perfectly curated version of life. The one we’re actually living.

How We Organize Things

Everything you find at 4RYL fits into one of four groups, depending on how we’re involved with the product and where it is in our process.

Originals

These are products we create ourselves because we wanted them, couldn’t find them, or thought they could simply be done better. We’re involved in the ingredients or materials, sourcing, packaging, development, and all the little decisions that go into creating something we’re comfortable putting our name on.

We also test them the same way we test everything else, with actual people and families using them in actual life. If the 4RYL name is on it, we stand behind it.

Collabs

These are products and projects we create with founders, makers, brands, and creators we genuinely want to work with. Sometimes that means developing something completely new, sometimes it means putting our spin on an existing idea, and sometimes it starts with a conversation that turns into something neither of us originally planned.

We especially love working with smaller companies and founders who are making really good products but don’t necessarily have giant marketing budgets behind them. There are so many great companies getting drowned out by whoever can spend the most money getting in front of you, and we want to help change that.

Certified

Our Certified Collection is where products land after they’ve made it through our review process. We look at the product itself, the ingredients or materials, and the company behind it. We research, ask questions when we need more information, and whenever possible, we actually use the product ourselves.

That real-life piece is important because an ingredient list can look fantastic and the product can still be something we would never buy again.

4RYL Certified doesn’t mean we’re claiming a product is perfect, because we don’t think that’s realistic. It means we’ve done the homework, tested it in real life, and feel good about keeping it in our permanent collection and recommending it to you.

In the Cart

In the Cart is where products go while we’re figuring all of that out.

These are products and companies that have caught our attention and made it through enough of our initial research that we want to take a closer look. Instead of waiting until the entire process is finished behind the scenes, we decided to let you come along for this part too.

We use the products, our families use them, and our curators may test them too. We dig deeper into the company, look at ingredients and materials, ask questions, and pay attention to the things you can’t figure out by reading the front of a package. Does it actually work? Is it worth the price? Would we buy it again? Does the company stand behind what it says? And is this something we genuinely want to keep around?

You can shop some of these products while they’re under review and try them right along with us. If they make it through our process, they can move into the 4RYL Certified Collection. If they don’t, we’ll tell you why.

We’re not interested in pretending we love everything just because we tried it or because someone is paying us to love it.

Why This Exists

Because buying everyday things shouldn’t require a research degree.

Most people don’t have hours to investigate every ingredient, manufacturing process, founder, certification, sourcing policy, and marketing claim before adding something to their cart. We’re working, raising kids, running businesses, making dinner, doing laundry, paying bills, and dealing with whatever fresh chaos showed up that day.

Life is already full enough.

4RYL exists to make this part of it a little easier. We’ll do the digging, ask the questions, try the products, learn about the companies behind them, and tell you what we find. And when we don’t know something or can’t get a straight answer, we’ll tell you that too.

This isn’t about fear mongering or making people feel like everything in their house is suddenly trying to kill them. It’s also not about pretending that we’ve figured out some secret formula for perfect living.

We’re figuring it out right alongside you, and hopefully making it a whole lot easier to figure out what deserves a spot in your cart.

Real products. Real companies. Real transparency. Real life.

Welcome to 4RYL.
