About 4RYL
Hi, I'm Christy.
I started 4RYL after one too many moments standing in a grocery aisle staring at an ingredient label thinking, How is anyone supposed to figure this out?
Every product claims to be better. Every brand has a story. Somewhere along the way, shopping stopped feeling simple and started feeling like homework.
I'm a mom, a business owner, and exactly the kind of consumer most brands say they're creating products for. I care about what's actually in the things I bring into my home, how they're made, and the kind of companies making them. Not just the ingredients, but the integrity behind them.
The problem is, shopping got exhausting.
Every label promised to be cleaner. Every package looked healthier. And don't get me started influencer marketing, AI written copy, and shelves packed with thousands of choices... suddenly buying shampoo, deodorant and pasta sauce felt like a research project.
I tried to keep up. I read labels. I researched brands. I learned what different certifications meant. I memorized long lists of ingredients I was supposed to avoid. I genuinely wanted to make better choices for my family.
But eventually, I hit a wall.
If you've ever taken kids grocery shopping, you already know why.
One kid wants snacks. Another is quietly tossing things into the cart. Somebody needs to use the bathroom. Someone else wants to know how much longer you're going to be. Meanwhile you're standing there squinting at a tiny ingredient list trying to decide whether something is actually healthy or just really good at marketing.
Shopping with kids is like trying to push an octopus down the grocery aisle. Arms everywhere. Chaos in every direction. And you're just hoping to make it home with something that resembles dinner.
The truth is, most people don't have the time or energy to investigate every product they buy. I certainly didn't.
After getting burned buying something I thought was good only to realize it was just good marketing a few too many times, I stopped trying so hard.
I went from someone who cared deeply about what I was buying to someone who just shrugged and said, "Whatever."
So I just bought what was cheap... food, beauty... cheap everything.
If it was all marketing anyway, what was the point?
Then life handed me a wake up call.
At 45, I had a colonoscopy that didn't go as planned. Nine polyps. My husband had a not so great one too. Nothing like a moment like that to make you stop and think about what you're putting in your body. And how much of it you've been trusting without really knowing.
Around that same time, the business I was running was slowly draining the joy out of my life. I knew something had to change.
That season forced me to ask a bigger question:
If it's this hard for someone who actually understands marketing, what chance does everyone else have?
That question became the beginning of 4RYL.
4RYL exists to help people cut through the marketing noise and discover brands that are actually worth trusting.
Some of the products you'll find here are ones we create ourselves through 4RYL Originals. Some are Collaborations with founders who share our values. Others are 4RYL Certified brands that have earned a place here through our review process.
But 4RYL isn't just a store.
It's a place where real people can have honest conversations about the brands they support and the choices they make as consumers.
Through product reviews, founder interviews, behind the scenes conversations, and the 4RYL Talk podcast, I share the process as it happens. The questions. The discoveries. The wins. And yes, mistakes.
You'll never find smoke and mirrors here.
I'm not interested in pretending every product is perfect or every founder has all the answers.
I'm interested in helping people spend their money with companies that deserve it.
Because every dollar we spend is a vote for the kind of businesses we want to see more of.
The 4RYL Promise
Real People. Real Products. Real Companies. Real Life.
Those four words are the heart of everything we do.
Every brand that becomes 4RYL Certified is evaluated using four standards.
- Real People. We know who's behind the brand. We believe founders matter, and we want to understand the people building the products they sell.
- Real Products. We evaluate ingredients, materials, quality, performance, and whether a product actually delivers on its promises.
- Real Companies. We look at how a business operates, how it treats its customers, and whether it stands behind what it sells.
- Real Transparency. We expect honest disclosure, clear labeling, and straightforward communication. No hidden ingredients. No confusing marketing. No trust us, just because.
Then comes Real Life.
Certification is where the process begins. Real Life is where products earn their reputation. Our team, our Curators, and our community use these products in their own homes and share honest feedback along the way. The good, the bad, and everything in between.
Because the best product reviews don't come from marketing departments.
They come from real life.
