What caught our attention here is MamaSuds' decision to stick with olive oil rather than using the coconut and palm oil blends commonly found in modern Castile-style soaps. There are no proprietary blends hiding what's inside, and MamaSuds makes the soap from scratch in small batches.

A Little About MamaSuds

MamaSuds was founded by Michelle C. Smith after she began questioning the ingredients in conventional household products and started making soap herself.

Her interest in Castile soap eventually led her back to its traditional olive oil roots. Rather than combining several oils or relying on added surfactants, MamaSuds makes its Castile soap from olive oil. The company says this soap now serves as the foundation for every liquid product it makes.

MamaSuds produces its products in small batches in Goodrich, Michigan, with an emphasis on straightforward formulations, ingredient transparency, and thoughtful sourcing.
