A Cucumber That Makes Growing Cucumbers Easier

The H-19 Little Leaf isn't your standard sprawling cucumber. This heirloom variety has compact vines and smaller leaves, making the cucumbers much easier to spot and harvest. It's a great option for smaller gardens, containers or anyone who's ever discovered a giant forgotten cucumber hiding under the leaves.

Even more interesting, it's parthenocarpic, meaning it can set fruit without pollination. That makes it particularly useful when pollinator activity is limited or when plants are grown under protective row covers.

The medium-sized, blocky cucumbers work double duty too. Pick them for fresh slicing or turn them into crisp homemade pickles.

Growing Instructions

Direct sow outdoors after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Plant seeds approximately 1 inch deep in hills of 2-3 seeds, spacing hills 3-4 feet apart.

A trellis is recommended, particularly for containers and smaller gardens. Keep the soil consistently moist during germination and growth.
